Our Dining Room

When we first looked at our house I loved the dining room. It is a good sized room and it has always had so much potential. I looked long and hard to find the table, I wanted a round, 60 inch table that didn't cost a fortune. Craigslist was good to me and I found this Pottery Barn table and chairs for a steal. The latest additions to the room have really completed the look for me. The corner cabinet and the black buffet are our two newest purchases. When Grandma and Poppa were here a couple of weeks ago Jon and I were able to go shopping just the two of us. It was so relaxing to go to a store and be able to look around and talk. We found both of these pieces that day, and a mattress, but those aren't nearly as pretty to look at. It has taken me a little while to get everything decorated and now I love our dining room. It has so much more personality now. I like to just go in there and sit now that it feels done. Once our schedule slows down a little we are hoping to have some friends over so we can actually use it, I am so excited!

The view from the kitchen

In this picture you can see the church pew that I found at a local consignment shop. I had painted it black when we got it several months ago and I love it even more now that I have the black buffet too.

Happy Father's Day

We had a great day celebrating Jon and what a great Dad he is. He got to open his presents Sunday morning before church. The kids are always excited when there are presents.

Jon has a hard time keeping track of his sunglasses so he got several new pairs. Everyone was excited to help him try them out.

Here is one happy Daddy and his two kiddos.
I hope everyone had a great Father's Day!

A Busy VBS Week and a great Saturday.

We had a busy week this week while I helped to teach Vacation Bible School. I had so much fun teaching a Kindergarten arts and crafts class, but it was so exhausting. I took nice long naps almost every day. Thankfully I was feeling good all but one day . Here are some pictures that Addie and Ben came home with at the end of the week.
The theme was Saddle Ridge Ranch, our little cowgirl.

Isn't this the most precious picture? It just melts my heart every time I look at it. Addie has been saying some of her memory verses from the week all weekend.

Bennett, our little cowboy. He was a good sport this week even though he missed his morning nap every day. He really enjoyed his morning nap today.

At our house the kids usually wake up from the afternoon nap around 4:30 or 5. Both kids are so ready to see their Daddy when they wake up if I even look out the window or say the word Daddy they make a bee line for the front window. They get so excited when he actually pulls up.

They are so cute now that Ben is standing up.

I love it when they are sweet to each other. Ben was screaming in this picture, but it looks really cute.

Our front window looks out over a very healthy lantana plant. The butterflies love this plant and Addie loves watching the butterflies. It is so neat to see how excited she gets about the butterflies.

This morning we got up and decided to paint a shelf for Addie's bedroom. She was so excited that it was going to be pink and that she got to help. It was fun to work on the shelf with her. She ended up with paint on her leg, on her clothes, in her hair. It was a successful paint job. Hopefully we will be able to finish it tomorrow and get it in her room, she is going to be so excited to have her new pink shelf in her room.

Next we went and planted some sunflower seeds. Addie loves plants so I hope they grow.

She loves helping to water our flowers.

Jon got his Father's Day special dinner tonight. Everyone was pretty excited.

Steak, crab legs, corn on the cob and brownies for dessert.

All of this great food and Ben ate the corn on the cob. He loves to get the whole thing and chew on it.

Tonight he had two pieces and he would put one on the table while he ate and then he would switch. It was so funny.

Addie decided that she loves crab legs! She kept asking for more crab. Jon and I were cleaning it as fast as we could and she kept eating it. We had to make her eat the steak and the corn or I think she would have eaten all of the crab legs herself. Jon gave her the claw to play with and it was pretty funny.

We are looking forward to a great day at church tomorrow and more time to celebrate Jon and the wonderful Dad that he is.

Happy Birthday Bennett!!!!

Last weekend we celebrated Bennett's first birthday. I was a little in shock all day and I cried a few times, I can't believe that our little man is already a year old. We had his party at a place called Old MacDonald's Farm. It is a petting zoo with a train and a playground and pony rides, and basically a very cool place. We tried to start the party early to avoid some of the Texas heat, unfortunately we still had a pretty warm day. Thankfully we had plenty of shade and lots of drinks to keep everyone hydrated.

Here is our friend April and her little girl Sarabeth feeding the deer with Addie. The deer walk right up to you and eat our of your hand. You have to be careful because the deer will rip the paper bag open to get to the food.

Ben was more interested in the food itself.

Jon took his turn feeding the deer.

I wanted to make sure to get a family picture at this birthday party. Addie was already pretty warm and Ben was tired because he didn't get his morning nap.

Addie all decked out in her cowgirl gear.

The peacocks came right up to our pavillion too. The kids were very interested, but no one wanted to get too close.

Krystal and her kiddos, Nick and Adalee, checking out the peacocks.

Addie loved the cowboy hat because the sun was so bright. I think this is the first time she was really willing to wear it.

Ben's cowboy hat cupcakes.

Ben was so tired by the time we sat down for cake that he just started crying. It was so pititful.

He got some help blowing out his candle.

Then Daddy gave Ben a little help tasting the frosting. It was funny to watch the tears just stop.

He started to dig in on his own.

My handsome little man loving his cake.

After cake we had to do a little wardrobe change. The whole party went and got on the train for a ride around the property. These train cars were not made to fit 2 adults and 2 kids, but the train was filling up and we all wanted to go together so we made it work.

Grace and Hunter rode in front of us.

April and Sarabeth were in the car ahead of them. Everyone else made it onto the train, I just couldn't get any pictures because I was wedged into the seat.

Addie went back for more watermelon to stay hydrated, smart girl.

We went to look at and feed some of the other animals. The llamas were so hot they looked kind of pathetic.

We made it to the pony rides and Ben rode his pony like a champ.

I was so proud of Ben.

The girls were trying to get the nerve up to pet the pony. Addie loves horses. Every time we drive by one she gets so excited, but every time she gets the chance to ride a pony she chickens out.

This time Jon just grabbed her and plopped her on the horse. I wasn't sure if she was going to panic, but she did so well.

She had so much fun! I was so proud of her to finally ride a horse.

Addie loved looking at all of the animals, especially the little ones. This little donkey was adorable.

When it was time to pack up I put the leftover cupcakes in a tray in the wagon. As I was getting everything else ready to go Ben made his way over to the wagon and started to dig into the frosting. He was so tired at this point that he started crawling away and crying after I realized what he was doing.

This was our little party heading home. I thought this picture was so funny, no one travels light any more with all these kiddos.

Ben drained his bottle and fell asleep in record time.

Here is Ben's 12 month picture. I am going to do a collage of all 12 month pictures taken on this blanket. We went in for his 1 year well baby check up, he is 22 pounds and 30.5 inches long. He has 7 teeth and he is standing all by himself. He is such a sweet little man. He sleeps a lot. He takes two long naps during the day which makes me think he is growing again, but we will see. Just because I know I was curious Addie is weighing in at 28 pounds right now, only 6 pounds differnce between our two kiddos, no wonder I am worn out by the end of the day.

Here is a fun little project that I did for Ben, it says Happy Birthday with pictures of our little guy. A friend of mine made one for her son and it was so cute I had to try a version for myself.
