After our long day at Tarragona we decided to search out the Aqueduct we had seen on our way in. We knew from our research that we could get to it, but they do not make it easy with the signs to get to it.
Thankfully we determined which direction to head and then we saw this sign. You have to be ready to turn when you see this or you will miss it.
There is a nice big parking lot and then you are greeted by these gates.
There were a couple of signs, in French, that gave some info about the aqueduct.
It was just a short walk and then we were here.
We took the trail that brought us to the middle of the aqueduct. We really wanted to be able to walk out on to it, so we headed up the mountain.
Garrett was ready with his new sword.
Here we are on top of the massive structure.
You can see where they have reinforced the top of the walkway.
Most of the bolts are covered like this.
From further away here is the view.
You can see Jon and the big kids here.
This place really was amazing.
They don't know exactly when this was built, but some sources say the 1st century AD, during the time of Augustus. I highly recommend a stop here if you are ever in the area.
